We work according to circular principles to make the most of resources and extend the lifespan of our furniture. Through reuse, repair, and innovative solutions, we repurpose more than 14,000 pieces of surplus material each year and give furniture a new life instead of letting valuable resources go to waste.
Sustainability at the core
For us, sustainability begins with creating furniture that lasts for generations – both in terms of timeless design and enduring quality. It is also reflected in the material we choose: solid wood, a renewable and sustainable resource that forms the foundation of every piece we make. Equally important is the way we manufacture our furniture, taking responsibility throughout the entire process, from raw material to finished product.
Reduce
Whenever possible, we strive to reduce unnecessary waste and make better use of our resources. Instead of discarding surplus material, we look for ways to give it a new purpose. In fact, more than 16,000 components used in our furniture each year originate from offcuts and leftover material from production. Parts that remain from the manufacturing of one piece of furniture can become part of another. For us, reducing waste also means addressing broader aspects of our operations, such as energy use in our factory, packaging solutions, and transportation. Our vision is to run a production process that is sustainable for the environment, our surrounding community, and everyone involved in crafting our furniture from solid wood.
Reuse
Reuse is about giving a Stolab piece of furniture a second life. Every year, thousands of pieces are produced at our factory in Smålandsstenar. Some never leave the factory because they do not meet our quality standards, while others are returned due to transport damage or similar issues. Rather than discarding these pieces, we restore them. They are repaired, refinished, and given a unique mark identifying them as Stolab Reuse furniture before being offered a new purpose, often in project environments. By extending their lifespan, we ensure that valuable materials and craftsmanship are not wasted. Every Stolab Reuse piece represents our belief that quality furniture deserves a second chance. Restore
In a world shaped by a throwaway culture, a growing repair movement is emerging. More and more people want to invest in products that can be repaired rather than replaced. After all, there are better ways to spend your time than making repeated trips between home, the recycling centre, and the store. Our furniture is designed to last and can be repaired when needed. To support this, we have built a growing network of retailers and partners with the expertise to restore and repair Stolab furniture.
