Taking care of your leather furniture

Leather is a beautiful and durable material that can be used for a variety of products, such as furniture. For our furniture, we use both semi-aniline and aniline leather.

Elmotique is an aniline leather. Aniline leather is a type of leather where the surface is untreated and dyed with a transparent color that highlights the natural texture and pattern of the leather. Since the surface has no protective coating, aniline leather is very soft and supple, but also more sensitive to stains and sun fading.

Tärnsjö is a semi-aniline leather which we also offer as an option on our furniture. Semi aniline leather is a type of leather where the surface has been treated with a thin protective coating. The coating provides a small degree of protection against stains and wear, but the natural structure and pattern of the leather can still be seen. Semi-aniline leather is also soft and supple, but not as delicate as aniline leather.

To keep your leather products looking good and lasting for many years, it is important to take proper care of them. Here are some general care tips on how to look after your leather furniture:

Maintenance and care

- Clean regularly - It is important to keep your leather furniture clean from dirt and stains. Use a soft cloth or a leather cleaning product to wipe the product regularly.

- Avoid water - Leather is sensitive to water and can be damaged by moisture. Try to avoid exposing your leather products to water as much as possible. If they do get wet, wipe them gently with a dry cloth and let them dry.

- Avoid direct sunlight - Direct sunlight can fade and damage leather. Store your leather products in a place where they are not exposed to direct sunlight.

- Use leather conditioner - Leather conditioner is a product that can help preserve the softness and suppleness of leather. Apply leather conditioner regularly to your leather products to keep them moisturized.
