The architect Yngve Ekström is a superb representative for light, Scandinavian design. Inspired by Bruno Mathson and Thonet, Yngve Ekström created new, light furniture in bent, laminated wood with classic elegance. The most famous of his designs is the Lamino chair (1956) in which he combined austerity with lightness, beauty with function. It was so outstanding, that the Lamino was voted the Twentieth Century’s Best Furniture Design by the Swedish interior design magazine Sköna Hem.
Together with his brother Jerker, Yngve founded Swedese Möbler in Vaggeryd.
