 Marit is an extremely devoted designer who enjoys exploring the use of new materials and means of expression. Marit has designed furniture in granite and iron, and has stonemasonry and boat-building experience (Storebro) too. It was during her studies at Carl Malmsten’s School of Craft and Design, Capellagården, that her interest in the combination of design, furniture and wood was seriously piqued.
Today, Marit works as a freelance designer and is an expert in many different areas. The furniture she designs for Stolab is solely birch. In the neutral tone of birch, she discerns the potential for creating lines and shapes that are accentuated in a distinctive and striking way.
Marit is the creative mind behind Stolab’s series Allegro, Serena, Entré and Andante. Profile products such as Dondolo, Bohus and Sgabello, plus the new pieces Vållö, Vista, Cambio, Krokholmen, Sandö, Vena and Storö.
Marit has also designed the stool Knappen, which won the Excellent Swedish Design award in 1997.
