Care advice from Stolab |
 |
| At Stolab we work with natural materials. The feeling of these materials is incomparable and the impression is further strengthened through the knowledge that every item of furniture is unique. We also have enormous respect for the environment that surrounds us and therefore choose the least damaging surface treatment methods possible. In order to retain the original characteristics of the furniture, we have produced the following simple care instructions: |
|
 |
< OIL
In order to retain the characteristics of the oiled surface, use the instructions When: Oil the furniture when required, preferably once a year or more often at fi rst. When the furniture is manufactured it is given a thorough oiling. Certain sections (crosscut wood, for instance) may then have absorbed a little extra oil. If your furniture has such “dry” patches, you can oil it directly. How: Rub in the oil in the direction of the grain. Rub the surface with sandpaper before the oil dries and polish it with a dry cloth. The more you work, the shinier the surface will be. Lighter stains: Wipe with the cloth only. Other stains: Wash cloth and washingup liquid. Use a clean, soft dry cloth that absorbs the old, dissolved oil. Before the surface dries, sand as above. Then oil the treated area. A recently-oiled surface often contains a surplus that has not dried out. This can take around 1 month. Therefore bedding or other linen should not be placed in a recently-oiled cupboard. NOTE! Oily cloths must be burned or put in a sealed glass jar as they are extremely fl ammable and could self-ignite.. |
SOAP >
Soaped surfaces are very attractive and have a really special feeling. However, these surfaces are more sensitive to stains compared to conventionally treated furniture. In order to retain the characteristics of the soaped surface, use the instructions. When: Furniture used on a daily basis benefi ts from being wiped with soap now and then. This treatment makes the surface easier to look after over time. Instead of detergent, use Stolab’s soap on the wash cloth. Lighter stains: Easy to remove with an ordinary wash cloth. If a more thorough cleaning is required, scrub with soap and wipe dry. Grease stains, etc.: Try to rub carefully with fi ne sandpaper in the longitudinal direction of the grain. Wipe with soap. |

GRANITE PANELS >
Stolab’s granite panel is untreated and actually requires no care. The panel tolerates heat, cold and most liquids. The exceptions are oil and grease. Lighter stains: Scrub with soap and a brush, rinse with water. Grease stains: Grease stains that are absorbed by the stone can be bleached by washing. In order to remove stains after a long period of use, the surface can also be treated with clinker oil. The surface will then have a slightly darker shade. NB! some granite varieties may have pores, especially in coarse-grained granite varieties. This is not due to deterioration in the stone quality but is part of the nature of the granite. |
